I Just Found Out About These 2 Books
Gonna See Tonight if the Local B&N Has Them on the Shelf
(2/22/08 update-Got 'em both that night!)
A "skinny bitch" is someone who cares about what they put in their body and
enjoys the hell out of food. It has nothing to do with how much you weigh.
The press went nuts when they saw Victoria Beckham with a copy of Skinny Bitch, the diet book by Rory Freedman and Kim Barnouin. With so much publicity surrounding the book, it's not surprising that the girls have come up with another offering, Skinny Bitch in the Kitchen. 'We decided on a cookbook to help make the transition to a Skinny Bitch lifestyle easier' says Rory. 'People can look forward to some kick-ass recipes and some really good grub.

I just love this!
The Vegan Bus is a project based in Northampton, MA. We have a 1992 International School Bus which is converted to run on waste vegetable oil. We use it for education and outreach, bringing people to animal sanctuaries, and other noble vegan causes...
Some of the members of the Vegan Bus are also hula hoopers, and we are participating in activism to keep the Hilton Hotel out of our beloved Pulaski Park. This video highlights hooping in the park and features several vegan hoopers!
Who I'd like to meet:
We are looking for artists, dreamers, people with mad skills that can anyhow enhance our mission, humane educators, burners, diesel mechanics, welders, seamstresses and seamsters, fire dancers, grant writers, non-profit organizers, people who don't think they have anything special to contribute but want to contibute anyway, media experts, financial backers, and you!

I Feel Like I Should Say-"I Rest My Case" or (What Else Would You Expect?)
Slaughterhouse inhumane practises revealed in underground video footage
Something to note: What is left out of almost all of the media coverage is that the animals we saw being tortured were dairy cows. This is why many animal advocates are vegan, rather than vegetarian.

All Else Stopped
it seemed odd
from even the
first few seconds.
we were discussing
Guru Maharaji,
vegetarianism, and
more while in a car
waiting for the "light"
to change...................
....and somehow, we just
stopped talking
and
looked to our right.
there on the sidewalk,
in front of a Mr. Donut,
on Hempstead Turnpike
we saw
a man.
squatting down and
inspecting
the carcass
of a
long-dead bird.
he reached down and
touched it's tail.
then i noticed he was
wearing glasses,
had pen and paper in
his shirt pocket;
neatly dressed, and
probably on his
lunch hour also.
he stared at
the body for awhile,
and then
he picked up a
handful of nearby
gravel, and pro-
ceeded to cover
his discovery.
he maintained a serious
thought-filled face
with almost a pre-
determined directfulness
with each move.
all else stopped
for this magnificent
streetside ritual.
we looked at each other
with smiles on our faces
as the "light" changed
and we were swept away....
the Birdman of Mr. Donut
got up and walked off.
on the sidewalk
lay his friend, the bird,
disguised as a
mound of gravel.
it's strange how things
were timed
for us
to arrive at
his ceremony.
